Gratt's Ice Lounge has something for everyone

Brad Gratton knows a thing or two about hockey. And he knows the importance of having somewhere to go after a game where people can unwind, grab a bite to eat, and enjoy the company of family and friends.
So when the former professional hockey player partnered with longtime pal Nick Bujouves to revive the bar and eatery inside the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, they came up with a unique concept that caters to every taste and whim.
Whether people want to spend time with family enjoying a satisfying meal, gather with teammates after the game for drinks and munchies, join co-workers in a relaxing lounge to sip on intriguing martini creations, or get the gang together to catch the latest guest band, Gratt’s Ice Lounge has exactly what they’re looking for. “We really wanted to make this a place for everybody,” says Gratton. “Why have a place of this size and concentrate on only one interest?”
After extensive renovations it appears Gratton and Bujouves have accomplished exactly what they set out to do. In addition to new flooring, completely renovated washrooms, a revamped centre bar with rich wood detailing, a separate nook for a group of 25, and the inclusion of a handy storage unit to fit oversized sports bags, Gratt’s presents customers with an attractive array of comfortable seating in an appealing lay-out.
Bench seats along windows overlooking two of Wayne Gretzky’s hockey rinks allow parents and friends to watch the games while having a drink or a bite to eat, or they can watch the latest sports broadcast on any of the eight high-definition wide screen televisions set up throughout the bar while seated at the many tall pub tables and bar chairs strategically placed around the room. For the ultimate sports experience, guests can catch a game on a 12-by-seven-foot high-definition screen that makes them feel as though they are right in the midst of the action.
There are times however, when people simply want to savour a refreshing martini or choose from among quality wine selections and relax after a long day at the office; or when the girls just want to have fun by catching up with friends for the latest gossip. Gratt’s Ice Lounge has that covered too.
In fact, a warm and inviting lounge area complete with its own bar, leather occasional chairs, low-standing cocktail tables, muted lighting and a soothing, earth-toned décor is one of the most unique features of Gratt’s Ice Lounge. “We want people to be comfortable here. This lounge gives them a place to kick back in a more relaxing setting,” says Gratton.
And for those who want an all-out party, Gratt’s Ice Lounge provides live entertainment, deejays and karaoke, along with a dance floor, for the after 9 p.m. crowd.
Gratt’s Ice Lounge is open daily for dinner and offers daily meal and drink specials and tasty menu selections that range from fresh salads, chicken wings, chili, and nachos, to classic burgers, hearty sandwiches, kid’s meals and desserts.
Upcoming events include volleyball and slo-pitch leagues in the summer months (Gratt’s has one of the largest outdoor party decks in the area), XBox tournaments on the big screen, draws and giveaways and specialty sports broadcasts. A minor hockey wall is also in the works, so bring in pictures of your minor hockey teams so they can join this wall of fame.
